Sometimes, the product/engineering relationship can be fraught. Engineers and product managers may have different communication styles, may face different stressors, and may see different things when they look at the same issue. Power and gender dynamics are often in play.

But a product and engineering team that is collaborating well is a beautiful thing -- a many-eyed giant that can navigate cleanly, seeing both the forest and the trees.

How do you structure a product team to work together effectively under deadlines and pressure from other stakeholders? Do you have to learn to code to really understand what the engineer is talking about? Should you be a "shit umbrella" for your engineers? What if you are tired of getting splattered with shit?
