While a cloud microservice can be small, building a large-scale service with microservice architecture can create a huge mess. Over two years, Bose went from zero to millions of connected devices and users by building a completely new IoT architecture that proved to be highly resilient in operation and highly productive for its developers. This was achieved through a combination of cultural precepts, layered architecture, hiring practices, rigorous operations, and defining a new lifecycle for microservices. This talk with touch on all of these interrelated subjects, and focus on the SDLC for microservices and the broader implications for building product in the cloud for consumer scale and security.
